It is my pleasure to announce that I have filed for re-election to represent District 6 on the Prince George’s County Council.
In 2011, I stressed the need for our district and County to seek unity in the face of adversity and focus on the future by tackling the big issues that threaten our quality of life -- creating more high performing schools, providing comprehensive healthcare closer to home, and developing a long-term economic development strategy.
Your support made action on that agenda possible.
We increased our commitments to public safety and brought violent crime to a 30-year low. We did not waver in our promise to provide more support for students, parents, and educators and our school system is now led by one of the best superintendents in the nation. We invested in sustaining the strength of our established communities through a renewed focus on code enforcement and fulfilling residents’ customer service requests.
Today, our streets are safer, our schools are improving, and our government is more innovative than ever.
But I have chosen to run for re-election today because while we have begun to move Prince George’s County back in the right direction, these were only the first steps on the path to progress.
In the next four years, I want to focus on doing big things on purpose:
Opening a brand-new, academic research hospital at Largo Town Center
Focusing our limited resources to provide incentives for job creation and high-quality real estate
Building the largest planned community since Columbia, MD
Increasing the availability of quality senior housing
Securing funding for infrastructure improvements to our aging and existing communities
I know that with your support we can achieve this vision.
Focused on the future,
Derrick Leon Davis
